This is a great article from RoofRocket.com on what to ask your roofer:
Wind damage to roofing is a very real concern for Colorado homeowners. At A & H Roofing we know this because we have seen and dealt with it.
The reason wind damage occurs is because although asphalt shingles are designed to resist damage from wind, all asphalt shingle roofs will deteriorate with age, and may eventually become prone to damage from wind. However, wind damage sometimes occurs when it perhaps should not – when the winds responsible for the damage weren’t truly “severe,” yet they were nonetheless responsible for considerable loss.
In other cases, wind damage may be attributable to more valid winds, but the severity of the loss will be greatly exacerbated by pre-existing conditions or defects in materials and/or workmanship. Workmanship: a good reason to hire A & H Roofing. We are experienced roofers who do the job right the first time.
A question we hear at A & H Roofing frequently is: Will insurance cover wind damage? The answer is maybe.
For example, siding or shingles suffering damage because of old age would probably not be considered a listed “peril” of homeowners insurance. The same logic might prevail when discussing the falling of a tree during a storm. Because a storm is listed as a peril (meaning it’s unpredictable), you would most likely be covered for all the damage, as well as the removal of the fallen tree. However, some of these coverages may have limits. If you want to avoid any possible issues, then take action early on to make your home less risk-prone.
Like in football, the best defense against wind damage is a good offense. You can avoid wind damage from a pre-existing conditioning by having A & H Roofing come out and inspect your roof when you buy your house and/or once a year. So give us a call and have us set you up for a relatively wind damage-free future.
A & H Roofing is proud to announce owner Tom Herman’s completion of the Tile Roofing Institute’s Installer Certification Program. Gary Herman, Estimator and Project Manager, carries the same certification.
TRI’s Installer Certification program is a one-day course designed to provide training on how to install tile roofs in compliance with current code requirements. The course is based on the ICC approved Installation Manual for Moderate Climate Regions.
At A & H Roofing, our desire is to be continually learning and becoming experts in our craft. We strive to be the best company possible for customers to turn to. Our goal is always continued education, continually honing new skills to provide the utmost in quality and professional work.
